- Specialist in Public Law with emphasis on Administrative Law – Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
- Master in Environmental Law – Universidad Externado de Colombia.
- Master in Management and Environmental Audits – Funiber Universidad de León España.
Background:
- Teaching since 1993, as a professor of undergraduate courses in Environmental Law, Constitutional Law and Administrative Law and of postgraduate and master’s degrees in Environmental Law, Planning and Sustainable Development, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering and Management Systems.
- Founder and Director of the first postgraduate course in Environmental Law in Colombia, and advisor for the Qualified Registration of environmental postgraduate programs.
Research experience, author and co-author of various articles, essays, written texts and books on the subject. As head of the Legis Public Law Unit, he was the compiler and editor of the Environmental Legal Regime, the first compendium of environmental regulations in Colombia, as well as the promoter of various books and research on the subject. - Experience in the public sector as an advisor to environmental authorities, since 1994, and in the private sector, as a business advisor since 1999. Founding partner of Álvarez Abogados Ambientales Firm since 2010.
